DFO among 3 injured by leopard near Mandi

Mandi (Mar 27): Divisional forest Officer, Jogindernagar, KK Bhalla, a forest guard and a villager were injured when a leopard attacked them in a forest at Ahju near Jogindernagar today.

According to police after an attack on one Pratap, angry villagers approached the forest authorities and the DFO along with other forest staff rushed to the scene of the incident. The leopard, which was hiding in the nearby bushes, pounced upon the DFO and the forest guard and badly injured them.

All the three injured persons were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Jogindernagar. According to the hospital sources, all the three injured persons are out of danger. According to villagers, Ahju forest is located in the periphery of a dense forest where the population of leopards has increased over the past decade and they have attacked animals and humans from time to time.
