Shimla (March 25): Former ADGP of Himachal Pradesh Police BS Thind, who recently was embroiled in controversies, passed away at IGMC here this morning after he complained of chest pain last evening. Senior medical superintendent KS Rana said Thind was suffering from some coronary heart disease.

According to source, Thind was in the town to attend a court case and was rushed to IGMC where he was declared dead after due to heart stroke. The 61-year-old 1974-batch Himachal cadre IPS officer leaves behind his wife and son. He was suspended in a case lodged against him by the state State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau pending in a Solan court.

Thind was in news as early as mid-eighties when he put the entire forest mafia operating in the state behind the bars. But in 2009, his fate took a sudden turn when he was placed under suspension for alleged corruption.
He had also filed a complaint against present Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal before the Lokayukata and also charged senior police officers, including former CBI director Ashwani Sharma, of being allegedly involved in other irregularities for saving the accused in Kamru Idol theft case.
