Bill introduced to replace Governor Ordinance on entry tax in HP

Shimla: In order to replace the ordinance promulgated by Himachal Pradesh Governor recently, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal soon after the question hour in state assembly tabled the bill named as HP Tax on Entry of Goods into Local Area (Amendment) Bill 2011. It was brought to amend section 3, 6(A) and 7 of ‘HP Tax on Entry of Goods into Local Area Act 2010.’

State government has already implemented the provision of this bill retrospectively after bringing HP Tax on Entry of Goods into Local Area (Amendment) ordinance on January 22, 2011 and now the bill would be brought in the house to replace the ordinance by regular enactment without modification. The bill sought to streamline certain provision of the HP Tax on Entry of Goods into Local Area Act 2010 by allowing the dealers to deposit tax by way of returns. The house is likely to discuss and approved the bill on March 18.
