Shimla: Campaigning in the three tribal constituencies of Bharmaur, Kinnaur and Lahaul & Spiti came to an end on Monday evening. For the first time, these assembly segments got considerable attention from major party leaders as was evident in hectic campaigning both by BJP and Congress stalwarts.
While chief minister Virbhadra Singh led the Congress brigade for six days in these far-flung areas, former CMs Prem Kumar Dhumal and Shanta Kumar did it for BJP and for BSP chief ministerial hopeful Maj Vijay Singh Mankotia led the charge.
On the final day, BJP roped in cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu to campaign in Bharmaur and Lahaul & Spiti.
While the BJP focused on reduction in tribal funds by the government, BSP harped on corruption within Congress. On the other hand, the Congress tried to take credit for bringing prosperity to these areas.
