Shimla: State Election Commission Himachal Pradesh has notified the first day of January, 2011 as the date for determining whether a person is qualified to be enrolled as an elector in the electoral rolls or no. Electoral rolls will be prepared for the conduct of elections to all the three tiers of Panchayati Raj Institutions of Udaipur and Keylong Sub-Divisions of Lahaul & Spiti District, Pangi Sub Division of district Chamba and for Zila Parishad constituencies of Sub Division Spiti of Lahaul & Spiti District.
Verification of electors by house to house visit by enumerators would take place from 23rd March, 2011 to 1st April, 2011, draft publication of electoral rolls would be on 4th April, 2011, and period for filing claims and objections, if any would be from 5th April, 2011 to 11th April, 2011. Claims and objections would be decided from 13th April, 2011 to 18th April, 2011, appeals can be filed within seven days from the passing of the orders by Revising Authority and it would be decided within seven days from the filing of appeals. The electoral rolls would finally be published on 4th May, 2011. The claims and objections will be received and decided even on holidays. After all the claims and objections received during the period have been decided, District Election Officer (Panchayat) will direct the correction of draft of electoral rolls and then finalise it in accordance with the order passed by the Revising Authorities.
Any person aggrieved by the orders of Revising Authority could also file an appeal against it to the District Election Officer (Panchayats) within seven days. The District Election Officer (Panchayats) will then decide the appeals within a week.
