Shimla: Himacal Pradesh government today claimed that institutional delivery was improving swiftly following implementation of ‘Matri Sewa Yojana’. It offers free prenatal as well postnatal treatment to every woman irrespective of their economic status in the state.
While replying to this query raised by BJP member Vipin Singh Parmar during the question hour in house today, Health Minister Rajiv Bindal stated that after its inception from August 15, 2009, the scheme has proved to be a boon for institutionalised delivery. He added that institutional deliveries were at 52 per cent before starting of this scheme and now has gone to 62.91 pc till last January. Further, this scheme was being started in 75 health selected institutions including private hospitals under which free treatment was being offered to pregnant ladies, registering for delivery.
