Ranchi: Shooters from Himachal Pradesh, who clinched bronze medal in 25m air pistol team category of women, said the state government should extend support for better performance in the sport.
”Being a costly affair its not possible for any shooter to manage every equipment therefore government should initiate steps for better performance in this sport,” said Archana Rana, member of HP shooting team while talking to reporters last evening. “We get nearly 6000 cartridges for our practice for a national game, which is not adequate,” she said. She added that this wasn’t enough, as more than 60,000 cartridges were required for preparation of a NG event. Archana had also won national shooting championship at junior level and is a second year student. Further, she said that she will undergo practice in March, but would not be able to participate in the training camp.
”Besides training, I was also supposed to participate in a shooting event from HP, but had to appear in university examinations. ‘I request government to give some relaxation in those conditions,” she added. Rachna Devi, another shooter of the team said that people who are employed at various sectors get support from their concerned departments, but people like us had to manage ammunition on our own.
