Shimla (Feb 19): Following reactivation of Westerly turbulences in north India, the Met office has forecast fresh rain or snow in some parts of Himachal Pradesh. Overcast sky and biting cold once again froze the entire tribal areas of the state where mercury was several degrees below freezing point.
According to Shimla Met office forecast, Westerly Disturbances are prevalent in parts of north-west Himalayas, and are expected to bring rain or snow. There are reports of mild rain or snowfall on high reaches of Kullu and Kangra district, while rest of the state was mainly dry in the last 12 hours.
Tourists resort Manali lashed with 2 mm rain while Rohtang Pass got light spell of snowfall. Dhauladhar ranges of Kangra district also got snowfall while downstream areas were lashed with rain showers. Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti was coldest with minus 8.4 degree Celsius followed by minus 2.6 at Kalpa in Kinnaur.
Minimum at Shimla and Solan was 3 degrees each, Dharamsala in Kangra 4.5 degrees, Bhuntar in Kullu 5.7 degrees, Sundernagar in Mandi, Palampur in Kangra and Una 6 degrees each and Mandi 7.5 and Nahan of Sirmaur 7.8 degrees respectively.
The Met office said rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated parts in plain area, few places in middle hills and rain or snow at few places in high reaches during next 24 hours.
