Rain, snowfall continues in Himachal

Shimla (Feb 16): Westerly Disturbances continue pouring snow over high reaches of Himachal Pradesh while widespread rainfall was witnessed in in downstream areas of the state, hampering air and land traffic today.

Kingfisher and Indian Airlines flight to the state besides three tribal chopper flights to Lahaul and Spiti had to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions in the reason. However, a lone Kingfisher flight operated normally from the Jubberhati airport.

Tourist resort Manali, Dalhousie, Narkanda and Kufri experienced snowfall in the state early in the morning. In Kullu district Manali recorded 10 cm fresh snowfall, while high reaches of Solangnalah, Mardi and Ranibagh had 30 cm snowfall respectively. Dalhousie in Chamba had 15 cm snow, Kilard sub-division of Chamba district got one feet fresh snowfall and Bharmour 20 cm. Keylong of Lahalu Spiti experienced 26 cm while cover while Kalpa in Kinnaur had five cm snowfall, respectively. Capital town Shimla received a light spell of sleet and 3 mm rain,

Bhoranj in Hamirpur was lashed with 74 mm rain, Jogindernagar 66mm, Una 59 mm, Baldwara in Mandi 52 mm, Hamirpur 51 mm, Bangana & Ghumarwin in Bilasppur 43 mm each, respectively. Dharamsala 40 mm, Mandi 38 mm, Sundernagar 33 mm, Seobagh in Kullu 30 mm, Amb of Una 22 mm, Bhuntar in Kullu 19 mm and Dehra Gopipur 16 mm, respectively.

Rain fall also occurred at Kumarsain, Rohru, Jubbal and Theog in Shimla, Udaipur of Lahaul Spiti, Karsog and Pacchad of Mandi, Arki of Solan, Renuka, Ponta Sahib and Sangrah of Sirmaur, Kasauli in Solan and Tissa of Chamba.

Keylong was coldest at minus four degree Celsius, Kalpa minus two degree, Shimla and Dharamsala 2 degrees each, Sundernagar and Bhuntar five degree each, Nahan 5.5 degrees, Solan and Mandi 7.5 degrees each, Una 9 degrees and Palampur 6.5 degrees, respectively.

The Met office forecast rain or thundershowers at isolated parts of the state in the next 24 hours.
