Shimla: In sequel to Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal’s visit to Israel along with senior officers of the state government some time back to study the agro technology adopted in Israel, Secretary Agriculture Ram Subhag Singh on the direction of Chief Minister held meeting with Ambassador of Israel Mark Sofer at New Delhi today. He discussed at length with him about the implementation of 70million US dollar ( Rs353 crore) Pandit Deen Dayal Kisan Baagwan Samridhi Yojna being implemented in the state, which envisages to bring 14.70 lakh square meter area under polyhouses in the state besides minor irrigation in 20,000 hectare areas so as to bring improvement in agriculture production in the state.
He also apprised him that two companies from Israel, Nandan and Netafim were working with the state government in the implementation of this project. He requested the Ambassador of Israel that either Israel government should help the state government in this regard or involve some specialised agencies, so that state government could benefit farmers of the state. He also said that state government intends to set up Centre of Excellence in Chaudhary Sarvan Kumar Agriculture University Palampur for green houses technology where farmers will have direct link with the university. He urged the Ambassador of Israel to take up the matter with Israel government. Israel Ambassador Mark Sofer assured the Agriculture Secretary that he will take up this matter with Israel government and see that this proposal is considered.
