Dharamsala: Himachal Pradesh government has decided to stop PTA grant-in-aid to schools falling under municipal corporations, municipal councils and town panchayats. Following this, teachers appointed under the parent-teacher association(PTA) fund will now not be paid their salaries by the government. Earlier, school teachers appointed under the arrangement were being paid Rs 4,110 while lecturers were getting Rs 4,800. However, colleges will continue to get grant-in-aid from the government.
While the government reasons that schools falling under these areas already have more teachers than required, school managements claim that PTA associations do not have enough funds to pay these teachers.
