Shimla: As many as 300 employees belonging to Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board today cordoned HPSEB member S.K.B.S Negi, protesting against declaring 900 employees surplus in the board.

Employees who earlier lodged gate meeting out side secretariat building of HPSEB at Kumar house here this afternoon cordoned the administrative officer for more than three hours in his room, shouting slogans against him. Employees were protesting against declaring 900 employees surplus who just joined board after coming back from deputation in Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited. The agitation was led by State Electricty Employees Sangarsh Samiti leader Kuldeep Karvra. He alleged while addressing gate meeting that more than 900 board employees who were earlier merged with State Power Corporation Limited have just come back from deputation and were arbitrary declared surplus by the board, which is against the norms and recruitment rules of HPSEB. He alleged that now surplus employees have been given deputation in other government departments, which is not acceptable to electricity board employees union and employees should be retained keeping work load of HPSEB in mind.
