Manali: A precious statue was stolen from Paldan Lamo temple on the Kunzun Pass in Lahaul and Spiti on Tuesday night. The theft has happened within a year of thieves having stolen another important statue from the temple, which was later recovered from Kullu. As per temple officials, thieves managed to lock security men in a room and tried to break open the iron cage that protects the statue which was stolen last year too. Frustrated, they laid their hands on another precious statue and vanished in a Qualis. A red alert has been issued by the district police and all vehicles are being checked at entry points in the district.
