Mercury rises in Himachal after sunshine

Shimla (Jan 21): Clear sky and sunshine was witnessed today in Himachal Pradesh despite a light spell of snowfall on the high reaches during the last 24 hours, the Met office said here today.

Keylong in Lahaul Spiti and Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded mild snowfall during last 24 hours. There are report of light to moderate spell of snowfall in high reaches of Kullu and Chamba as well. Una and Kalpa were three and four degrees above normal, recording a low of six degree Celsius and minus 2.2 degree Celsius respectively. Keylong was coldest in the state at minus 10.4 degrees.

Shimla was above normal by 1.3 notches, recorded a low at 2.9 degrees, Bhuntar up by two degree, up and low at four degrees; Sundernagar in Mandi was normal at 3 degrees while Mandi town was up by one degree and low by five degrees respectively.

Minimum at Palampur and Solan was 5.2 degrees and 0.9 degrees respectively. Dharamsala was below normal by 3.5 degrees, recording 2.3 degrees and Nahan in Sirmaur was two degree down at 4.7 degrees respectively.

The Met office said that weather would be mainly dry in the entire state during next 24 hours.
