BSNL to start mobile number portability in Himachal soon

Shimla: BSNL will start mobile number portability facility for its customers from January 20. Talking to media persons here, general manager, mobiles, BSNL A.K. Pandey said the facility allows a subscriber of a mobile telephone service to retain his number when he moves from one mobile telephone service provider to another irrespective of the mobile technology. “Number portability is permitted only within Licensed Service Area (LSA) .i.e. within Himachal Pradesh circle only. This facility can be availed in pre-paid as well as postpaid subscribers’’, Pandey said.

He said every subscriber shall be eligible to make a request for porting his mobile number, provided that period of 90 days has expired from the date of activation of his new mobile connection (90 days from last porting) and there are no outstanding payments due to the donor operator by way of pending bills issued as per the normal billing cycle. As also there is no pending request for change of ownership of the mobile number. He said in case of pre-paid the balance amount of talk time, if any, at the time of porting shall lapse.
