Shimla: A spokesman of Panchayati Raj said here today that Gurdwara Election Commission and government of India has proposed to register parties intending to set up candidates for the forthcoming election of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
He said that the interested parties are requested to intimate to the Secretary, Gurdwara Election Commission, Kothi No. 23, Sector 8-A, Chandigarh their names and addresses and other particulars including the particulars of their office bearers, as also choice of three symbols in order of preference out of the symbols specified latest by Jan 20, 2011. The application should be accompanied by a memorandum of rules and regulation of the association or the party by whatever name called, he added.
The symbols are Ink-Pot, Box (wooden), Band Baja, Buffalo, Belcha, Camel, Deer, Fridge, Fan pedestal, Hammer, Hut, Lock, Loud Speaker, Thali and Katori, Ox (Bullock), Pedestal Lamp, Postman, Richshaw, Scooter, Shield, Tub, Tempo, Thrashing Machine, Tree Mango, Tanker, Trolley, Tube-well, Torch, Toka Machine, Washer-man, Wall Clock, Rehra, Tractor, Horse, Railway Train, Sun flower, Gharyal, Truck, Lota and Peacock. He said that these were the same symbols, which were notified by the Gurdwara Election Commission for the last election of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee held in 2004. List of these symbols can be obtained from the office of Commission, Kothi No. 23, Sector-8-A Chandigarh, he added.
