CM administers oath to Pradhan & Up-Pradhas

Hamirpur: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today administered an oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected Pradhans and Up-Pradhans of Hamirpur, Una and Bilaspur districts at a glittering function held at the auditorium of NIT here this afternoon. Braving heavy rains and inclement weather Pradhans and Up-Pradhans from the districts of Hamirpur, Una and Bilaspur today took part in the oath.

While congratulating them for their elections, he called upon them to work with dedication and zeal for the speedy development of their respective areas and help the people to get the seeds of benefits being given to them by the state government under various poverty alleviation programmes. Chief Minister also said that PRIs were the vital organs of democracy, which Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi had supported overwhelmingly by dreaming of Gram Swaraj. He added that state government was providing TA and DA to the representatives of PRIs, accommodation in the rest houses and honorarium had been increased by about 21 percent. He said that training programme would be completed within a limited time frame so that the representatives could discharge their duties more efficiently and responsibly.

However, he warned the newly elected representatives to stay from any corrupt practice, which would be dealt with sternly at all level. He said that every penny of the public money must be used for the benefit and development of the people in general and no wasteful expenditure incurred by them. Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Jai Ram Thakur hoped that the team of young and energetic office bearers would work vigorously to serve the people with commitment.
