PTA teachers end agitation

Shimla: PTA teachers in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday decided to end their nearly two-month-old agitation to press for their demands claiming that the government has assured to look into most of their demands. While the government claimed the decision was unconditional, PTA Teachers Association president Vivek Mehta claimed Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has promised to continue with grant-in-aid for PTA teachers and has also assured them that teachers whose services were terminated following probe by respective area officers would also be ‘rehabilitated’. As per sources, the PTA teachers have for long been trying to convince to government to offer them alternative employment if their services were to be terminated.
