Shimla (April 1): The Himachal Pradesh state committee and the state secretariat of the Communist Party of India Marxist today accused the state BJP government of selling the state’s assets at throwaway prices and, decided to “expose such moves and launch a massive campaign in the state in the following months”.

“The government has opened the floodgates for real estate speculators and mafia who are bent upon to dilute the provisions of the Land Reforms and Tenancy Act. Such indiscriminate opening up has made safe passage for giants like DLF and many other private universities. It is for an easy access of DLF et al that the Apartment Act has been amended,” the CPIM has claimed. It also targeted the BJP for allowing Benami transactions in lieu of granting relaxation under Section 118 of the Tenancy Act.

The CPIM state committee also strongly condemned the BJP government for its proposal to close down more than 700 HRTC bus routes in the state. “The whole idea of closing down such routes smacks of deep rooted conspiracy to privatise these routes. This is under the neo-liberal dictates, a glimpse of what could be seen in the state budget,” the CIPM has stated.
