Shimla (July 16): Power generation was restored at the 1500-MW Nathpa-Jhakri Hydel Power Project in Rampur and Kinnaur area of Himachal this evening after its turbines were shut down for a day as silt level rose above its permissible limit of 4,000 to 5,000 ppm in the morning.

Project In-charge of SJVNLat Jkahri, NC Bansal said that increasing silt level forced the management to stop generation in the wee hours this morning and all the six units were stopped. states, including Himachal. He said that four units of the project were restored at 2.30 pm while
remaining two started generation at 6 pm today.

The project, generating over 36 million units of power per day, and meets the peak requirement of the northern states of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, J&K, Rajasthan, UP and
