State Vaypar Mandal supports ‘Bharat- Bandh’

    A day before the enforcement of historic ‘Goods & Service Tax (GST)’ in the Country, Himachal Pradesh Vyapar Mandal HPVM decided to support the call of ‘Bharat Bandh’ on Jun 30 deciding to keep all commercial establishments, shops and trades close. Talking to Himvani, the President of Himachal Pradesh Vyapar Mandal Mr. Sumesh Sharma confirmed that they would support the call of Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal which declared Jun 30 as ‘Bharat Bandh ‘ against the wrong number of shortcomings in the GST regime.

     

    After thorough consultations with various trade bodies in the State we have decided to follow all India level call against the GST opposing it for a number of shortcomings.”There are a number of blatant shortcomings in the GST as threshold limit for GST to Himachal Pradesh traders was kept drastic low at ten lakh compared to twenty lakh on the national level. ” Mr. Sharma pointed out. ”We have pinpointed as many as nine to ten glaring shortcomings in the GST coming in force on July one in the country causing resentment among them.”

     

    ”GST Act provides some draconian provision to punish the violators trader and businessmen who could be jailed if found guilty during the remittance of tax.” the State Vyapar Mandal President alleged. ”If any trader purchase material and goods worth Rs 10 lakh from outside state he may have to deposit Rs 1.80 lakh, if  local seller fails to deposit same tax on the deal.” Mr. Sharma said. Any trader of the State could not be forced to levy 17 percent interest on the account of none recovery of GST from the local trader outside the State, he asserted.

     

    Seeking to simplify the process of filing GST returns, Mr. Sharma demanded that traders have to fill more than 37 returns, is a cumbersome process moreover they must have their own computers to file return. ” The Government should make the provisions to also file manual GST return as every trader could not operate or keep the computers.” he said.

     

    On the nationwide call of Mr. Shyam Behari Lal Mishra president of Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal all the local units of state Vaypor including Shimla Vyapar Mandal would support the call of Bharat Band and keep off their shops, business establishments close. On district and subdivision level memorandum to be submitted to Prime Minister and President through concerned Deputy Commissioner and Tehsildar in the state, he added.
