CM turns down students demand to withdraw RUSA

    Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today turned down the demand of students organizations to withdraw Rashtriya Uchtar Shiksha Abiyan (RUSA) from the higher education stating that the system was forced on the student to study keenly and take their curriculum seriously. Intervening on the issue after lunch today in the Assembly Mr. Singh said that RUSA proved a best accepted system for the education.

     

    Students of the State and even of other States implemented RUSA and it is prevalent system under different name in the Country. “Instead wasting time here and there the students have to study and the teachers cannot just after one or two lecture skip the colleges.” ”Student have to study and teachers could not escape responsibility under the RUSA. The State Government implemented this system to reform the quality of education imparted in the Colleges and Universities and it proved better option.

     

    He said that if in the future to improve the education any better system to be introduced at any level, the Government may replace RUSA for the betterment of quality education however there is no plan of present Government to change it right now. Earlier raising point of order leader of Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal said that BJP affilate Akhil Bhartiya Vidayarithi Parishad (ABVP) today lodged a massive protest outside the Assembly to press demand to replace RUSA and withdraw the unprecedented fee hike in the colleges and university.

     

    Mr. Dhumal said that massive gathering revealed that students are pressing important issuse and it should be coned by the Government. BJP leader claims that impressive gathering by the students as about 30 thousand students joined the protest. Chief Minister however denied claim of Opposition leader and said that Leader of Opposition should not exaggerate number of gathering as venue of protest could not accommodate more than eight to ten thousand people at such a constrained place.

     

    “At time of declaring Statehood to this hill state former Prime Minister Indra Gandhi rally at Ridge assembled about 30,000 people and the record was never broken thereafter. ” If 30,000 people have to accommodate outside Assembly it would expand upto Chaura Maidan.
