Heavy snowfall, blizzard, hail, thunder storm and incessant rain paralyzes life in HP

Tourist resort Manali, Kufri and Narkanda in Himachal Pradesh experienced fresh snowfall in Himachal Pradesh moreover blizzard, hail and thunderstorm and incessant rain paralyzed life in the State. There are reports that snowfall continues in the high reaches as some  places got heavy to very heavy snowfall in the State and down-streams lashed with widespread rainfall and thunderstorm disrupting normal life in the State.

 

Kothi of Kullu got two feet or 60cm thick blanket of snowfall along with 23 mm rain. Met office also recorded 34 cm fresh snowfall at Kalpa till 0830 hrs today, tourist resort Manali recorded 32 mm rain. Tourist resort Narkanda experienced 20 cm of snowfall continue since last night and Kufri 10 cm.

 

There are reports of blizzard and very heavy snowfall in 13050 feet high Rohtang pass, Kunzum pass, Lady of Mauling, Goshal hill and Seven sister’s hill, Killar of Pangi, Manimesh of Chamba, Dhauladhar ranges of Kangra, Kinnar Kailash of Kinnaur, Dodra Kawar, Kharapather of Shimla, Haripurdhar and Churdhar of Sirmaur district were experiencing heavy snowfall which still continues.

 

There are reports of snowfall in Chopal and Khirki of this district. Hindustan Tibet and Theog Gumma Rohru and Chopal highway have been closed for vehicular traffic after mounting of snow. Thunder storms and thunder showers disrupted normal life in the down stream low visibility and erratic power failure disrupted normal life. Thunder and hailstorm occurred at few places in the districts of Kangra, Hamirpur, Solan & Bilaspur.

 

Power supply disrupted in Shimla district and it is off in rural areas since last night. Tourist resort Shimla did not get any snowfall however it was heavily incessantly raining. Naina devi in Bilaspur got 60 mm rain,  Saloni in Chamba 58 mm, Mehre in Kangra 57.4 mm, Dharamshala 51.6 mm, Jhandutta of Bilaspur 50 mm, Baijnath of Kangra 42 mm, Joginder nagar 40.5 mm, Dalhousie 37 mm, Shimla and Bharmour of Chamba got nearly 30 mm rain each. Sundernagar of Mandi and Palampur of Kangra 32.8 mm each, Bhuntar and Seobagh of Kullu 35.6 mm each, Una 14 mm, Nahan of Sirmaur 18.6 mm, Solan 21.4 mm, Kangra 31 mm, Dharmpur of Mandi 29 mm  and Jubbarhatti of Shimla 25.8 mm.

 

The minimum temperature of Shimla and Bhuntar  4 degrees Celsius each, Manali minus 0.6 degrees, Solan 6.8 degrees, Sundernagar and Nahan 8.5 degrees each, Kangra 11.4 degrees and Una 12.4 degrees each. The Met office forecast heavy snowfall at high reaches and widespread rain in most places in the mid and foot hills. It warned that heavy to very heavy rain fall likely to occur in isolated to few parts in the next 24 hours.
