Fatal snowfall claims two lives of NIT Hamirpur students

    The fatal snowfall claimed two more lives in the State as the rescue team recovered two missing alumni of National Institute of Technology Hamirpur as they were trapped in heavy snowfall during their attempt to visit Shikari Devi shrine situated at 9350 feet high from the sea level. Sub Division Magistrate Janjayali, Mr. Ashwani Kumar told that the police rescue team traced out bodies at Shikari devi under Saraj valley of Mandi district on Friday.

     

    The police identified the deceased as Navneet Kumar of Barmana, Bilaspur district and Akshay Kumar of Sujanpur, Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh. The deceased were reportedly trapped in blizzard on Thursday as their relatives had lodged the complaint of their missing on Thursday stating that they could not return from the shrine since last Friday.

     

    The rescue operation was started by two different police parties this morning that succeeded to trace their bodies at 1600 hours today. The ill-fated victims were reportedly missing since last Friday as along a group of MBA students decided to venture the temple on Thursday and were trapped in blizzard however the others managed to return safely.
