Snowfall and rain showers in many parts of HP

Continuous heavy snowfall, rain and cold inhabited life as people were forced to remain inside their homes in many parts of the State. Met office recorded snowfall in Shimla of about 32 cm till 0830 hours today, Manali 26 cm, Kalpa & Saloni 8 cm each, Seobagh in Kullu 7 cm. The reports arriving said that Dharamkot and Meclodganj also experienced light to moderate snow fall.

 

Tourist resort Manali was recorded 30 cm snowfall reported continue, high reaches of Manali got 45 to 50 cm snowfall. District head quarter Kullu in the Beas valley recorded 6 to 7 cm snowfall first time in the season. The gateway to Lahaul Spiti district, 13050 ft high Rohtang pass had heavy snowfall of about five to seven feet.

 

Tourist resort Dalhousie and Khajiyar of Chamba experienced heavy snowfall as high reaches of district are snowing for last four days. Shikaridevi of Mandi, Churdhar of Sirmaur, Dodra Kawar of Shimla, Kinnar Kailash and Shrikhand Kailash of Kinnaur, Kunzum pass of Spiti and Pirpanjal ranges of Chamba and Dhauladhar ranges of Kangra district reported heavy Snowfall and threat of avalanche looming high.

Report arriving from Keylong said that there are about 50 to 55 cm snowfall in tribal town. Keylong of Lahaul Spiti district recorded coldest in the State with minus 2.7 degrees Celsius, Manali minus 0.8 degrees, Bhuntar 0.2 degrees. Solan was low at 2.5 degrees, Sundernagar in Mandi 4.7 degrees, Nahan 5 degrees, Dharamshala 8.4 degrees and Unà 9 degrees respectively.

 

Dharamshala recorded highest 44 mm rainfall, Mandi, Solan & Ponta Sahib in Sirmour 38 mm each, Nahan  35 mm, Una 34 mm, Bajaura in Kullu  32 mm, Seobagh 30 mm, Shimla 20 mm respectively. The Met Office forecast rain and snowfall at many places in next 24 hours. Low lines of Shimla and Solan districts are having insistent rainfall since last night ending four months long dry spell.
