Dhauladhar ranges of Kangra experience snowfall

Mighty Dhauladhar ranges of Kangra district experienced snowfall in the higher reaches and light rainfall in down streams, the Met Office said. The Dhauladhar ranges experienced light to moderate snowfall in the last 24 hours covering the mountain ranges in white cover. Dharmshala abode of Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama also experienced 2 mm rainfall however it was mainly dry in the rest of the State.

 

Met office also forecast that owing to western disturbances the rain and snowfall most likely to occur in the next 24 hours. Rain and snowfall likely to occur on Jan 4 at few places in the mid and high reaches and rain and thundershowers in the foot hills. Shimla town was overcast in the afternoon as black clouds were hovering in the sky. The inclement weather condition dipped the Mercury in the State as stayed under subzero or in minus in the higher reaches.

 

Keylong was recorded coldest with minimum temperature at -5.6 degrees, Kalpa was at -2.6 degrees, tourist resort Manali -0.6 degrees, Bhunter 1 degree, Sundernagar 2.5 degrees and Solan 3 degrees respectively. Bilaspur 3.8 degrees, Chamba 4 degrees, Hamirpur 4.4 degrees, Mandi and Shimla 4.7 degrees each, Kangra and Palampur 6 degrees each, Una 6.8 degrees, Dharamshala 9 degrees and Nahan 10 degrees respectively.
