HP CM inaugurates International Renuka Fair

    The Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh accompanied with his wife and former Member of Parliament Smt. Pratibha Singh and son Vikramaditya Singh, who is also the President of State Youth Congress today inaugurated the week long International  Renuka fair by offering prayers before the palanquin of the presiding deity Lord Parshuram at Renuka Ji.

     

    Thereafter he led the procession by giving shoulder to the palanquin of the presiding deity. The fair marks the annual union of Lord Parashuram with his mother Goddess Renuka Ji on the eve of ‘Dashmi’. Every year on the occasion of “Devprobodhini Ekadashi”, the traditional Renuka fair is organized on the banks of the Renuka lake where lakhs of devotees from across the country participate.  As per the tradition, the palanquin of Lord Parshuram is brought to Renuka from the ancient temple in Jamu Koti village and it departs after performing religious ceremonies, including a holy dip in the lake.

     

    The HP Chief Minister said that people of the State were recognized for their rich traditional customs and culture, adding that “Fairs and festivals are inseparable part of the lives of the people of the State.” He said it was the duty of every citizen to preserve and maintain the age-old temples. The devotees dressed in their traditional colorful attire danced as they chanted divine melodies to celebrate the festival of the main deity making the atmosphere blissful.

     

    The Chief Minister also inaugurated the exhibition organized by different Government departments and NGOs showcasing the development activities of the district as well as the State. Landing straight at Maina Bag helipad, about 14 kilometers from Renuka, Chief Minister was given a rousing reception by Chief Parliamentary Secretary, who is also local MLA from the area Mr. Vinay Kumar along-with Vice-Chairman State Planning Board Mr. Gangu Ram Musafir and others including Chairman, Employment Generation and Resource Mobilisation, Shri Harshvardhan Chauhan, District Congress President Mr. Ajay Solanki and others.

     

    Earlier, he also laid foundation stone of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Maina-Bag to approximately cost ₹ Rs. 6.53 crore. The Chief Parliamentary Secretary Shri Vinay Kumar welcomed the Chief Minister at the Maina-Bag helipad. He was accompanied by local politicians and officials. He also addressed grievances of the people at Renuka.

     

    Later in the evening, the Chief Minister inaugurated the first cultural evening of the fair and also released a souvenir on the occasion. Chairman, International Renuka Fair and Deputy Commissioner, Sirmaur Mr. B.C Badalia welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion.
