HC directs State to form panel for winter sports promotion

    The Himachal Pradesh High Court today directed the HP State Government to constitute a committee of professionals or experts within two weeks to indicate the steps to be taken by the State Government for developing and promoting the winter sports. The Court also directed the respondents to file status report within four week thereafter. The matter will now be listed before the court on 26th December, 2016 for further hearing.

     

    A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan passed these orders on a petition filed by Abhimanyu Rathor. The petitioner has alleged in the petition that the Government is not providing any facility for the development of the winter sport in the State. The petitioner has prayed that the directions may be issued to the concerned authorities to implement National Youth Policy and the State Sport Policy in letter and spirit.

     

    He has further prayed to issue direction to the respondents to not only provide basic facilities but also provide proper nutrition and trained sports instructors be provided to the sports persons to achieve their goals.
