Monsoon likely to completely withdraw from HP before Sept 27: IMD

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said today that the South West Monsoon receding in the hill state is likely to be completely withdrawn from Himachal Pradesh before September 27th. The Director of Shimla IMD office Mr. Manmohan Singh said that currently the State have no reports of South west monsoon system in the State however it still prevails over western Rajasthan to western Himalayan ranges.

”It has withdrawn only from some parts of Himachal Pradesh and receding gradually with every passing day compared to the normal dates of withdrawal by 27th September.” Mr. Singh told himvani. Currently some parts of the State were under the affect of Western Disturbances as Kothi in Kullu got 5 mm rainfall however rest of the State was partly cloudy and mainly dry today. With the receding of water level in major rivers and keeping it unchanged, district administration Kullu lifted the ban from river rafting activities on the bank of Beas river as number of air-boats started floating after ban of last four months during the Monsoon season.

 

The minimum and maximum temperature were unchanged in the State today as Keylong, headquarter of Lahaul Spiti district was low at 9 degrees followed by Kalpa in Kinnaur at 10 degrees, Tourists resort Manali at 11.4 degrees, shimla was recorded low at 14.7 degrees, Dharamshala 15.8 degrees and Solan 16.7 degrees respectively. Bhuntar in Kullu and Chamba was low at 17 degrees each, Mandi 18 degrees, Kangra and Sundernagar 18.5 degrees, Bilaspur 19.6 degrees, Nahan and Hamirpur 20.6 degrees and Una 22.7 degrees respectively.

 

The maximum temperature of Shimla was recorded at 24.5 degrees, Sundernagar  32 degrees, Bhuntar 33.5 degrees, Kalpa 23.8 degrees, Dharamshala 27.6 degrees, Una  35.4 degrees, Nahan and Solan 29 degrees each. The Met office forecast mainly dry weather in the State for the next 24 hours.
