Regulations of construction: CPI(M) ruled Shimla MC resolves against controversial ordinance

    In an unexpected move CPI(M) ruled Raj day Shimla Municipal Corporation today did away with the much debated controversial Ordinance promulgated by Mr. Virbhadra Singh Government in the State to regularized the so-called illegal construction in the State after passing unanimous resolution which was supported by the Congress and BJP counsellors in 25 members house during special meeting convened to discuss it today.

    After the marathon debate in the issue during special session of MC house convened today all the members joined together showing its inability to implement the flawed ordinance in the present form alleging that it was promulgated and conceived without applying brain on the burning issues and in hurry to please more than 50,000 owners of such construction in the State.

    Soon after concluding the special house at Rotary Town hall in Shimla joined by most of the members of house, top and concerned officials of MC and town and country planning resolved that the ordinance did not figure fit in its very definition of ‘as it is where it is’ settlement basis.

    Interacting to the media persons the Deputy Mayor of Shimla MC Mr. Tekinder Singh Panwer said that during the debate in the house members had consistent views on the Ordinance that it was not practical ant it should withdraw in public interest after giving afresh appraisal to their concerns.

    “We know that after passing 15 days of its promulgation very few owners were coming forward to take benefit of it as it is not practical and vehemently opposed in the present form as the member gave their objections” Mr. Panwer who is CPI(M) party unit member said.

    People were promised by the Congress before the forming of its government in its manifesto in 2012 election that it would bring up retention policy but it come up with the faulty retention policy keeping the interest of builders and private constructors.
