ED freezes bank accounts of CM: Unruly scene in HP Assembly

    The news items appeared in the media today about freezing of the bank accounts of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh by the Enforcement Directorate, today created unruly scene in the state legislative assembly assembled after two days weekend break.

    BJP member Mr. Rajiv Bindal pointed out that Opposition member kept protesting in the last week for four days however, Speaker Mr. Brij Behari Lal Butail did not allow them to raise the issue of ED probe against Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister in the House. Mr.Suresh Bhardwaj and Mr. Ravinder Singh Ravi of BJP also said that news items about freezing of bank account have appeared in the media and asked Chief Minister’s reply in the House.

    Mr. Suresh Bhardwaj alleged that there is crisis of confidence in incumbent government as party ministers were showing confidence in the AICC president Ms. Sonia Gandhi. He said that they had given notice to the chair to raise the issue when ED attached the property of Mr. Singh recently however, new revelation about freezing of bank account is in the public domain and it should be allowed in the House.

    Mr. Ravi said that development has stood still in the state as Chief Minister is ferrying to Shimla-Delhi to defend himself in the cases. He accused the government that query regarding NABARD raised by him on the March 3 is not responded so far. He insisted upon the discussion suspending the entire business under rule 67.

    Speaker pacifying the BJP members said that he had been made it clear that matter is sub judice and court is considering the issue. The member should wait the decision before snatching the issue to discuss in the house, Mr. Butail said adding that he never opposed the BJP move to raise any issue however, he could not allow it as the matter is pending in the court. He urged the opposition member to patiently wait for the decision of court in this matter.

    Speaker asked the member to take question hour however BJP members waived off the news items about freezing of bank account in the house and kept on demanding discussion on the ED probe. BJP members continued their protest in the house and member of ruling benches also shouted loudly creating unruly scene for 15 minutes. During the Opposition protest Chief Minister was not on his seat in the house however he latter turned up in the house when BJP member had walked out in the mid of the Question Hour.
