HP Govt. to name Chamba Medical College on Jawaharlal Nehru 

The Himachal Pradesh Congress rule decided to name the upcoming Chamba Medical College in the name of our 1st Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Harmirpur College on the name of 2nd President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, this was stated by the Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur while interacting with media persons today.

He said that 3 new government medical colleges were coming up in Chamba, Hamirpur and Sirmaur district would be named on Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and 1st Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Dr. Y.S. Parmar respectively.

He said that land allotment for Chamba and Nahan medical colleges had been done as it would be attached to district level hospital having 80 bed capacity. Each college would admit batches of 100 students per-annum.

He said that State Government owns the responsibility of outbreak of jaundice in Shimla and other parts of the State. He said that 637 cases of jaundice were tested positive for Hepatitis E as around hundreds came with the jaundice symptoms in the hospital. He said that the State Government is bearing the expenses of treatment of jaundice in all state run hospitals.

He said the State Government has worked hard to build up new medical institutions in the state as state would have 6 medical colleges. He said that 600 doctors and 65 specialists had been appointed during the last 3 years of its rule. Mr.Thakur said that State Government had opened a number of medical institutions in rural areas and efforts have been made to provide adequate staff in these institutions to bring health services to the door step of rural areas.
