Hailstrom, snowfall and rain lashed many parts of Himachal

Giving the respite to farmers and people of the hill state from prolonged dry spell, hailstorm, snowfall and rainfall lashed at many parts of Himachal State and was partly cloudy at some areas today.

High reaches of Himachal Pradesh got good spell of snowfall, gateway to Lahaul-Spiti district 13050 ft high Rohtang Pass got about 3-4 feet thick snowfall, Kunzum pass, Lady of Keylong, Seven sisters hills of Lahaul-Spiti, Manimahesh, Bharmour, Pangi of Chamba district, Kinner and Shrikhand Kailash of Kinnaur, Jalori jot of Kullu, Dhauldhar ranges of Kangra district recorded moderate to heavy snowfall.

Met Office recorded about 12 cm snowfall at Kalpa, 7.5 cm snowfall in Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti district, Khadrala Shimla 6.8 cm snowfall. Bhuntar in Kullu 35 mm snowfall, Bajaura in Kullu 33 mm, Kotkhai in Shimla 26 mm, Sarahan 25 mm,  Seobagh in Kullu 23  mm and Gohar in Mandi 21 mm.

Tourist resort Kufri got rainfall and hail storm and rainfall recorded in Jogindernagar 19 mm, Shimla and Chelsea 17 mm, Kumarsain in Shimla 16 mm, Manali in Kullu 15 mm, Mandi 14mm, Bijahi 13mm, Sarkaghat, Jubbal in Shimla 12 mm, Arki 10 mm, Airport Shimla 9 mm and Solan 4 mm.

The minimum temperature remained 2-3 degrees above normal as Keylong was coldest at -5.6 degrees, Kalpa -0.8 degrees, Manali 0.2 degrees, Shimla 4 degrees, Seobagh 5 degrees, Bhunter in Kullu 6 degrees, Dharamshala 8 degrees, Kangra 9.6 degrees and Una and Nahan 10 degrees each respectively.

Met office forecasts rain and snowfall at high reaches and mainly dry weather in rest of the state during 24 hours.
