Himachal Pradesh Assembly adjourns sine die

Winter Session of Himachal Pradesh Assembly was adjourned sine die today amidst opposition protest and shouting of slogans without doing any scheduled business.

As the house assembled for the day proceeding this morning, BJP member Mr. Ravinder Singh Ravi wanted to know from the chair about his ruling given on 1st of December regarding holding discussion on his notice on the issue of corruption on the basis of news items appeared in an English daily recently.

Speaker Mr. Brij Behari Lal Butail explained that according to the promise he allowed the discussion amending the motion after removing some subjudice remarks from it. He insisted that he is sticking to his promise and the discussion would be allowed under the rule 130 today after the Question Hours.

This agitated opposition who protested against amending the motion and alleged that the speaker was not fulfilling his promise under the pressure of treasury benches.

Leader of Opposition Mr. Prem Kumar Dhumal intervened on this matter and explained everything that happened and called it a breach of trust on the part of chair.

The Speaker kept on expressing his inability to allow discussion on any issue which is subjudice. Intervening in between the parliamentary minister Mr. Mukash Agnihotri quoted Assembly Rule that the Speaker has the right to make an amendment on the notice given by the members. The agitated opposition further kept on demanding the discussion.

Members from the treasury benches also stood up and started making counter allegations on the opposition. Then opposition trooped into the well of the house and continued shouting slogans. After this the Speaker announced adjournment of house sine-die.
