Police arrests a suspect

Two days after a youth was lynched to death in Lavasa village of Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh Police on Sunday arrested one person on the basis of electronic evidences and witnesses’ statements.

“On the basis of electronic evidences and investigation done so far we have made first arrest in this case. SIU with help of cyber informatics arrested the accused” said Superintendent of Police Sirmaur Soumya Sambasivan.

After 48 hours long search operation on the basis of electronic evidences and some statements special investigating unit (SIU) headed by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vinod Dhiman arrested one person today. Details of the arrested person are kept secret. She said details of the arrested person are kept secret as investigation is on and giving out the detail can affect the strategy.

The police had gathered clues from photographs posted on social networking site, which were later withdrawn and also a few photographs that were published in vernaculars and detained six persons. However it is yet to ascertain that the person arrested belongs to some Hindu right-wing organization, said a police official.
