The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has approached Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda for his long pending demands.

CII claimed that Nadda has agreed to redress the issues being faced by the industry in Himachal Pradesh. CII Himachal Pradesh Council Chairman Mr. Rajiv Aggarwal said Nadda has agreed to address the issue of setting up of a Multi-specialty hospital in Baddi and support linking Baddi with Chandigarh through Metro.

Minister has also agreed to incorporate the recommendations and suggestions of the industry before finalizing the amendments in the drug and Cosmetic Act. He said CII has received a letter from Nadda’s office in which he has assured all the possible support to the industry wherever needed from time to time in various issues.

Last month, a senior CII HP Council delegation led by Rajiv Aggarwal had met the Union Health Minister to press for early resolution of state’s civil aviation, metro link between Chandigarh and Baddi, state’s enhanced road and rail connectivity with other states, Bar Coding of the Packaged Drugs and amendments in Drugs and Cosmetic Act etc besides other issues.

“CII had also sought the Minister’s active support for extending the proposed metro linking Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula and Mullanpur to Baddi which is quite nearby it” Mr. Aggarwal added.

He further said Baddi Barotiwala, and Nalagarh (BBN) is the biggest industrial township of Himachal Pradesh. In last decade, many corporates have set up their manufacturing facilities in this area and BBN has also emerged as the Pharma hub on Global map.

“There is big challenge of connectivity with Chandigarh. Hence, if Baddi is also included in the Master Plan of the proposed Metro, it would not only help the existing industry a lot but also reduce pollution as well as reducing vehicular congestion of the Pinjore – Baddi road” he said.
