National Green Tribunal expedites eco-transport

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Wednesday has directed all the concerned departments of the state and centre governments to render their full cooperation without putting any stumbling blocks in the process of providing eco-sensitive transport system in Himachal Pradesh.

It has ordered concerned authorities to provide early clearance to ensure the CNG availability at Tahliwal in Una. Earlier proposal of setting up a gas filling station at Sundernagar was put down by GAIL Gas Limited, which stated that transportation of CNG to Sundernagar would be a costly affair.

Counsels appearing for the different authorities, companies, state and central government have agreed to a proposal to make it possible to supply the CNG gas at Manali. They have placed on record a note to ensure execution of the issues decided.

The GAIL Gas Limited shall be responsible for execution of the project. Green tribunal principal bench comprising Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar, judicial member Justice MS Nambiar, Prof. AR Yousuf, Ranjan Chatterjee have also ordered all the concerned authorities to fully cooperate with GAIL Gas Limited and not unnecessarily put obstruction in grant of permission.
