Chief Minister announces 6% Dearness Allowance to HRTC employees

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh today announced to release 6% dearness allowance to serving 2500 HRTC employees and pensioners.

While presiding over the foundation day celebrations of Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation at Peterhof here today Mr. Singh said that a Corpus Fund is to  be created by the government to sort out the delay in pensions, gratuity and leave encashment to provide it readily.

He said that the state government is committed for the welfare of the employees of HRTC and is providing them all benefits in a time bound manner. He said with the changing of regimes, policies keep changing too and that has effected the rules, either of pension or otherwise.

He stressed the need to change the prevailing system in  HRTC to make it more beneficial to employees. He assured to formulate a suitable policy to evolve it so that it could give more monetary benefits to pensioners in a time bound manner.

Mr. Singh noted that unlike private operators, HRTC was plying its fleet in hard and less profitable routes, as its sole objective was to facilitate people of this hill state. The state has been running the transport services for welfare of the poor and middle class families as people of hill state largely depends up on road transport.

He also urged the HRTC staff to fulfill all parameters like cleanliness, proper maintenance, dress code and politeness with the passengers as it would infuse confidence among the public at large.

Mr Singh said that owing to peculiar topography, the road transportation is the only means of communication and transportation. He hoped that state would evolve air and railway connectivity simultaneously to reduce the load on roads.

The state HRTC runs its fleet of about 2500 buses on more than 34000 kilometers long highway and other roads. Transport Minister who also addressed the employees said that it has  introduced new 1200 buses recently which are in profit and more 300 buses are being approved by the board to be soon run on the roads.
