State blue chip firm to take recourse of multi-billion-power project

    State blue chip firm SJVN has decided to take recourse into execution of 601-mega watts Luhri Hydro Electric Project exploring the possibilities to develop it into multistage, canceling earlier proposal of one stage project.

    Interacting with media persons here today Chairman Cum Chief Managing Director Mr. R. N. Mishra said that it was earlier proposed to built in one stage spending Rupees 126 crore for taking environment clearances. We are facing stiff resentment from the local people to develop this project that has forced us to take recourse and take fresh environment clearances.

    The project was in the pipeline for last five years but despite taking environment clearances it was decided to take recourse as project would now be divided into three stages after developing separate surge shaft.

    Firm having equity share of 64.46% in the centre and 25.51% in the state and 10.03% in public is also constructing 2070-mega watts international projects composing 900-mega watts Arun -3 in Nepal, 600-mega watts in Khologchhu and 570-mega watts Wagchhu in Bhutan.

    The firm has already commissioned 1912-mega watts hydro power project in Himachal Pradesh containing 1500-mega watts Nathpa Jakhari and 412-mega watts project at Rampur on the Sutlej River. Two upcoming project of SJVN with production capacity of 667-mega watts in the state are in progress, Mr. Mishra has confirmed

    The firm has also entered into unconventional power sector as it has been allotted 1320-mega watts thermal power project at Baksar in Bihar  on May 26, 2015. It is executing 363-mega watts power project in Uttrakhand comprising of 252-mega watts Devsari, 6-mega watts Naitvai Mori and 51-mega watts Jakol Sakri .

    Mr. Mishar said that SJVN has achieved production of 8136 million units against MOU target of 7850 million units in financial year 2014-15. It has also achieved plant availability factor of 105% against MOU target of 92.5% during the same period.

    The firm has net worth of Rupees 10203.04 crore including 2666.41% in the Government of India, Rupees 1055.02 crore in Himachal Pradesh and Rupees 415 crores with authorized share capital of Rupees 7000 crores.
