Showing a gesture for the cause and response to earthquake hit Nepal, Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association (HASTPA) has decided to support the part of the ride’s earning for the rescue and relief work in the Himalayan Kingdom.

The riders will be contributing 25% of their winnings to the Nepal Cyclist Ride to Rescue (NCR) Relief Campaign. NCRR started as a group of mountain bikers who happened to be riding through a village when the earthquake hit Nepal. NCRR reached out to the people of Sikhar Basti, a region located 100 kilometers outside of Kathmandu, and delivered relief to over 3100 people in the form of food, medical supplies, temporary shelters and schools. NCRR aims to build 7 schools in 7 weeks starting December 2015.

The five riders from Nepal would be participating in the 11th Hero MTB Himalaya and are an illustrious group of riders well known in the MTB world, namely Ajay Pandit Chhetri, Gopal Narayan, Buddhi Bahadur Tamang, Raj Kumar Shreshtha and Rajan Bhandari. These professional riders are a tough group to beat when it comes to endurance riding given the hard training they undergo in the mountainous terrains of Nepal.

“As a special gesture to the MTB committee in Nepal who have been an integral part of the event since inception and who were ravaged by the devastating earthquake, we at HASTPA have decided to waive off the registration fee for the Nepal riders. We hope this small gesture will encourage the others to build Nepal to its former glory once again” says Mohit Sood the Director of Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association.
