Women seeks revenue entry on nuptial bonds

    Different women rights organizations in the state have decided to take the ruling class and men hierarchy head on seeking entry of women in revenue records on entering of nuptial bonds.

    Convener of women fronts led by Ms. Manjri Negi told Himvani that different organizations have submitted a memorandum to Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. D.R. Shandil here to further pursue the demand.

    Front comprising Saichhik Mahila Vikas Sangathan (SSMVS) Parvatiya Mahila Adhikar Munch Himachal Pradesh, Akal Nari Sangathan Himachal, Mahila Committee Kangra, All India Democratic Woman Assocation (AIDWA), Mahila Kalayan Parishad, Kinnuar, Nishta Sangathan, Kangra, Human Right and Justice Forum convened state level alliance and network meeting at YMCA here yesterday.

    Ms. Negi also said that soon after marriage every woman who has got her registration among their in-laws in the panchayat and municipality family registers however is being deprived from due rights to get entry in revenue records along with husband.

    Demanding special reservation to extremely neglected and destitute front decided that deserted, widow, divorcee, wives of accused and convicts should be placed under special oppressed category. Rights groups have also sought allotment of five bigha lands to have shelter and render livelihood for this category. They also sought to implement women protect and domestic violence law stringently.

    Ms. Manjiri Negi also advocated the demand of special budgetary provisions for women to provide and reserve them jobs for 365 days under National Flagship program MNREGA.
