CPI (M) the state unit has demanded quashing of Himachal Pradesh University recruitments done under the pressure of Congress and BJP rules with convience of Vice Chancellor Mr. A D N Bajpai .

Addressing media persons here today the party secretariat member Tekinder Panwar said that a memorandum was submitted to Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Dev Vrat seeking vigilance probe into the recruitment scam and ouster of Mr. Bajpai.

He said that ignoring UGC norms ineligible candidates were given recruitment to political pressure. Fresh appointments be made at the earliest and should be done according to the UGC norms the party said adding that famous case of P Susheel and others versus UGC and others lays the foundation for the norms that is NET or SET. Party said that minimum pass marks be kept for the candidates who score more than 50 per cent in their aggregate.

Party has also threatened to move to Supreme court if its unable to press the issue on the state authorities under scrutiny of the Governor. The Vice Chancellor should be sacked immediately and even the new one should be kept out of the process and preferably a one time commission be constituted for the same.

“The topper being set aside and someone who just had 49 per cent marks was given a whopping 18.50 marks out of 20 in the interview. Whereas the topper was given just eight marks and this really needs to be brought to halt” the party alleged.

State unit of the Communist Party of India Marxist today met the Governor Mr Acharya Arya Vrat had apprised him about the recent controversy that has erupted over the process of appointments in Himachal Pradesh University.

The party has asked for his intervention and has placed the facts, which quite unambiguously speak volumes about the illegal interference at the behest of the state government to appoint their henchmen as Assistant Professors by passing and violating the statutory norms.

The party has stated, both the BJP and the Congress in order to get their men placed in the HPU and other centers has virtually decimated the entire process of appointment to a mere trash.

Violations galore in appointment procedure and shamelessly the norms have been tilted to suit their interests and the largest victim happens to be the merit and meritorious candidates and toppers.  The BJP blames Congress and later blames former whereas the reality remains that both these parties are drenched in violating these norms.

Another fig added recently to this spate of appointments is ransom corruption to which the higher officials happen to be involved in the process. It is shocking to note that instead of allowing merit to prevail between both the previous BJP and incumbent Congress governments are bent to allow mediocrity by allowing 3rd division students to be appointed as teachers. The party has a list of such candidates who are favorites either of BJP or Congress and who are bound to be selected in case the appointments are not quashed.
