Wakf Board hails formation of tribunal in Himachal

Himachal Pradesh Wakf Board  hailed the formation of three-member tribunal in a cabinet meeting that was held on Wednesday.

Chairman of state Wakf Board told Himvani that with formation of this tribunal all  disputes pending in courts related to Muslim family laws could be settled expeditiously. He also said that the tribunal would be formed after amending Wakf board and giving it judicial powers.

The cabinet meeting on Wednesday that was presided by Chief minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh decided to give its approval to the modalities to form this judicial body in order to deal with cases related to minorities.

The State Cabinet note said that it had approved constitution of Wakf Tribunal as per Wakf Amendment Act 2013 to seek the concurrence of the Chief Justice of High Court for appointing a District and Session Judge as the Chairman of the Tribunal.
