Himachal Pradesh High Court today exempted top brass of Kangra district from the court presence till the next date of hearing on 10th July. It summoned executive officer Municipal Corporation Dharmshala and concerned police in charge in the matter of green felling at Mcleodganj, the abode of Tibetan Spiritual leader Dalai Lama.

Hearing Public Interest Litigation (PIL) taken up as ‘suo moto’ on a letter written to the Chief Justice by Ghazala Abdullah on 23rd June the Division bench of  High court today ordered that personal appearance of the DC, SP Kangra and DFO, Dharamshala is dispensed with however  SHO, Dharamshala and the Executive Officer, Municipal Dharamshala should remain present in person before the court on next date of hearing.

The court warned all the officers present today to do the needful as per orders passed by this court from time to time. Any violation shall be treated as contemptuous and the officer responsible shall be dealt with in terms of the provisions of the Contempt of Courts Act.

Earlier Mr.Anup, Additional Advocate General Rattan informed the bench that status reports on behalf of the DC, and SP Dharamshala have already been filed in the Registry.  The court asked the state to file same before 10th July 2015, with advance copy to the learned Amicus Curiae, enabling him to file response by or before 13th July, 2015. It is worthwhile to mention here that the court had also stayed all the sanctions to fell the trees granted earlier.

Clubbing another complaint the bench also asked the forest officers to file status report about felling of green tree at Jakhoo’s deodar forest in the capital town. Opposition BJP, CPI (M) and AAP are also blaming the forest minister Thakur Singh Bharmauri for protecting forest mafia as 8132 green trees have been felled during last two and half years illegally and 477 trees were found axed near Taradevi forest range under the nose of state government.
