Failing to sort out traffic congestion, High Court orders to reshuffle Superintendent of Police

Himachal Pradesh High Court today decided to transfer or replace SP Kullu with immediate effect as he has fail to sort out Manali traffic congestions. Taking slow-motion notice on a news items appeared in the vernacular recently Division bench of Chief Justice Mr. Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Mr. Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan passed the orders today.

The court said that it appears that police has failed to regulate the traffic in Manali and virtually the police has failed to discharge their duties. The way by which the traffic is being regulated by the Superintendent of Police and other police officials at Manali, it has become difficult for the tourists to visit the tourist resort to enjoy the beauty of this hill state, which is also an eye opener for the state in general and for Superintendent of Police, Kullu in particular.

The Advocate General is directed to file status indicating the mechanism to check traffic congestion in Manali and to make such mechanism in place to ensure that tourist resort is made accessible and comfortable for the tourists otherwise, the bench said. “In given circumstances, we deem it proper to make a request to the state government to consider the transfer of SP Kullu immediately and replace him with competent officer and report compliance on next date of hearing on 20th July 2015, said the court orders”.
