Himachal slash electricity duty by two per cent to woe industries

Himachal Pradesh Cabinet today decided to slash electricity duty by two per cent charged from various industrial unit to attract more investment in the state.

The cabinet meeting held here today was presided over by Chief Minister Mr. Virbhdra Singh who decided to reduce electricity duty at the rate of two percent under enterprisers.

The cabinet note issued by state government said that decision was taken according to the announcement of Chief Minister’s budget speech, as it would provide industrial friendly environment for attracting new investments in the State.

Mr. Shrikant Baldi, Principal Secretary told Himvani that the duty for most of industrial houses is to be reduced by two per cent from the existing tariff plan for industries.

In a budget speech of Mr. Singh contained the assurance that electricity duty for specified Extra High Tension (EHT) category consumers is to be reduced from 15% to 13% for Medium and Large Industries except EHT from 13% to 11%, for Small Industries from 7% to 5% and for any new industry including the new EHT category industry employing more than 300 Himachali’s only 1% for five years.
