Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Anand Sharma today blamed the incumbent Narendra Modi’s government for forcing Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh agenda on the youth of this country.

Talking to media persons here he saidthat institutions like the University Grant Commission are being influenced by the rightist ideology of RSS. The heads of institutions like the IITs, IIMs and DRDO have quit or they are functioning without the efficient leaders at the top.

Taking a dig at the foreign tours of Prime Minister Modi he said the excessive overseas touring of Mr. Modi has neither increased the foreign investment nor resulted in any speeding up of development within the country. The government has badly failed in fulfilling its promises it had made before the elections.

Mr. Anand Sharma who is considered very close to Gandhi family from the times of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi said that time has come for the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi to take the reins of Congress party and become its President.

“When Ms Samriti Irani can become the HRD Minister of India why can’t Mr. Gandhi head his own party. The party would decide when he should be made the party head” he added,

On asked if he interested in coming to join the state politics in the background of the party being headed by the octogenarian leadership here, he said he has not made up his mind to fight the elections from the hill state and the party would decide about this later. Mr. Sharma who was the Rajya Sabha member form Himachal Pradesh for a long time had to seek the membership from Rajasthan last time when there was a BJP majority in his home state.
