Targeting to vaccinate 90 lakh uncover and partly covered newborns in the country, Union Health Minister Mr. Jagat Prakesh Nadda has today launched a universal immunization derive and its website ‘Inderdhanush’ in the state capital.

Addressing strong presence of media persons at hotel Peterhoff, Mr Nadda said “in order to bring infant mortality rate to single digit from existing 28/1000 level it has been decided to launch Inderdhanush in 210 districts of the country”.

“Despite this program was running for long time however it has been found out that more than 20 lakh children are still uncovered under for vaccination against seven deadly diseases and 70 lakh are partly covered. Every year about 2.4 crore children take birth in the country and that further needs revamping to immunize them in a routine manner. He also added that the government had launched this scheme in September last year to target to reduce preventable loss of life and to bring down IMR level to zero”.

Mr. Nadda said “this derive has been focused on to target those districts where IMR is found alarming”. Expressing satisfaction he said that so far 40 lakh children have been covered under the derive as about one crore antigen have been used in the country. He also launched a mobile application to facilitate the workers to record time-based immunization in the field and transfer daily-based data to respective state headquarters and further to the center.

Hailing the move by center state Health Secretary Mr. Vineet Chaudhary hailed the efforts of Mr. Nadda. “It is a contradiction that all vaccination used in the world today are being produced in country unfortunately if there is any country where most children are left out from immunization is India, the IMR of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is better than us” Mr. Chaudhary who has served Mr Nadda as Health Secretary in past BJP rule.

We are equal stakeholders and happy to associate with center informing Mr Chaudhary also said that Himachal is first state in the country where teli-medicine has been launched. He stressed the need that not a single child should be left without immunization in the country as the hill state has already achieved 90% immunizations, which now needs to go up to 100%. You can easily achieve 10% immunization target from 50 to 60% but to bring it up to 100% is not so easy, the official said.
