Hundreds of affiliated agents gathered outside Divisional office of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) today protesting against Mr. Narendra Kumar Modi’s government for dismantling services rendered by more than 13 lakh agents across the nation.

On the call of Life Insurance Agent’s Federation of India (LIAFI) protest was held outside every branch of LIC in the state today to press their demands, which include dismantling the services rendered by them to more than 35 crores of LIC policyholders in country.

Blaming the union government and finance ministers for allegedly working against interests of policy holders and agents of LIC, the state president and general secretary of LIAFI, Mr Rakesh Chauhan and Mr. J.K.Pathak said that agitation was held to oppose this action vehemently.

Memorandums submitted to Divisional Manager of LIC at Kasumpti today mentioned that union government was trying to create hurdles after imposing draconian move against their interests to boom up private and FDI firms for downsizing the public sector unit.

It has alleged that unfair deduction has been made on maturity of policies, exorbitant service taxes being imposed to harm the interest of LIC policyholders moreover bonus being given on the new policies of LIC is un-changed for long time to be enhanced. LIAFI also alleged that section 44 of Insurance Act 1938 is being amended under new insurance bill to deprive the benefits being rendered to agents. It has demanded that new amendment should be ensuring entitlement of commission on renewal of police to agents and its nominees. LIAFI warned the LIC management and protest more aggressive if center remained fail to address their issues.

“Owing to strong force of agents LIC has strongest networks of services likely to loose its coverage area substantially with new market system being created after opening of FDI in the sector” the agents alleged.
