Fresh Western Disturbance to bring rain or snow in Western Himalayas

The hill state which is experiencing cold, dry and sunny weather would likely be having inclement weather in couple of days as Metrological Office has forecast. Arrival of fresh western disturbance in the region is likely to affect the Western Himalayan Region.

Shimla Metrological Centre Director Manmohan Singh said that fresh Western Disturbance is in the air to affect Western Himalayan region from 12th onwards as the state would have rain and snowfall.

Forecast of light rain and snow is predicted for high reaches on  Jan 12 and light rain or thunder showers in the foot hills  at few places and light to moderate rain or snow in mid and high reaches at many places on Jan 13 & 14, Mr. Manmohan Singh said.

However it would be mainly dry but partly cloudy in next 24 hrs. The cold wave will continue in the state during wee hours and night however it would be mainly dry and sunshine in the day. The foggy and cold waves will affect normal life in the foothills.

Minimum and Maximum temperature remained almost stationary in the state as Keylong was coldest with low at minus 9.8 degrees whereas Manali and Kalpa in Kinnuar recorded minus 1.8 degrees and Minus 3.4 degrees, respectively.

Una, Chamba, Bhunter in Kullu and Sundernagar in Mandi was low at zero degrees each, Solan one degrees, Kangra, Mandi and Nahan three degrees each, Dharmshala and Bilaspur remained at four degrees.
